  • What is Domain? A domain is like a street address, it simply gives identity to your web site. Domain allows you personalized email addresses, which relates to your company, family or organization. A domain is very essential to provide a DNS entry for your website. Without a domain name you can even think of your presence in the web.
    When you register a domain and do not host it, it is domain parking.
  • What is Website? A website is a World Wide Web which is one of the least expensive and yet most targeted, flexible and effective forms of communication and commerce. In others words, we can say that a website is more economical, faster and effective way to make information available to clients, customers, Channel Partners and employees. With a website you can:
  • Reach millions of potential customers for about the cost of traditional newspaper advertisement.
  • Be found by your customers via searches.
  • Update your content easily, quickly and cheaply.
  • Afford more contents than traditional print ads.
  • Get instant feedback from your customers.
  • Sell and promote products and services.
  • Generate new business or expand your business volume.
  • Communicate with target audience.
  • Cater your customers 24 hours a day, 7days a week and 365 days a year which remains unmatched with any other conventional form of advertising or communication.
  • What is Hosting? Hosting is to place your website on a server which is connected to the Internet 24 hours so that your website can be seen by users 24 hours.
  • What is a Virtual Domain ? Virtual Domain Hosting means having your own domain name ( http://www.your-name.com ) without having to install expensive server hardware and software. With Virtual Domain Hosting, you utilize our server's storage space, however you are still professionally represented via your own personal Internet web address domain name ( www.your-name.com ) and by your own personal e-mail address domain name (you@your-name.com).
  • How long does it take to setup a new Account ? Typically a few hours if you placed your order over the phone and within 24 hours if it was placed online. However for orders using Cheque/Draft, Accounts are setup after they are cleared from our banks.
  • Can I upgrade to a higher account ?Yes you can. Either through your control panel or you can send an E-mail to billing@iway.com.np with your domain name, current account plan and desired account plan and they will do a price estimate on the plan upgrade and get back to you in 24-48 hours. In most cases you are allowed to switch between Compatible Plan groups.
  • How do I get a Domain name ? You can register a domain name with iWay during the sign-up process or your can go to any domain registrar and follow their steps to purchase your domain name.
  • Do you handle the Domain Registration process? iWay can register .com, .net and .org domain names for you. However you can also register .np domains through iWay.
  • Do you support domain extensions other than .com , .net , .org ? iWay supports all domain extensions available.
  • What is a domain transfer ? A Domain Transfer is a little less than it sounds. Because all of our clients own their respective domain name(s) we just ask that they have the DNS settings (Domain Name Server) have any request for the domain name be directed to our servers. iWay does not become the owner of the domain name they just are the place the domain name points to.
  • How long does it take for my domain to get active ? Typically 24-48 hours need to pass before the domain name or any changes made to it will be reflected on all the computers across the world.
  • Can I transfer an existing domain of mine to your servers ? Yes, all you need to do is enter into your domain management area with your domain registrar and have the DNS settings pointing to iWay's servers. Once this is done within 24-48 hours all of the mainframes on the internet will update their records and point your domain to our servers where your website is located.
  • How will my billing be handled ? Billing is handled automatically by our control panel. Most billing matters can be taken care of in the control panel, however some account upgrades and other special circumstances are handled by our Billing Department. Please note that it can take as long as 5-7 Business days for your e-mail to be looked at, investigated and your issue resolved by our billing department. iWay likes to give much importance to billing issues.
  • Do you host adult related sites ? Due to the large traffic and unwanted attention that adult sites bring iWay does not offer adult site hosting. Any such hosting is a breech of our Terms and Agreements and that account will be closed promptly. iWay is a clean web hosting service with good morals and values.
  • What are the DNS settings?

  • What are the E-mail settings? (Generic)
    POP3 Incoming Mail Server:mail.iwaynepal.info
    SMTP Outgoing Mail Server:smtp.iwaynepal.info
  • What are the FTP settings?
    FTP host: web.iwaynepal.info
    FTP login: (typically the first 8 characters of your username, if your username is 8 characters or less use your username)
    FTP password: (corresponding password to the FTP login)
    You would need to upload your website to the folder named for your website.
  • What are the Frontpage Settings? Depending on your account you may not be able to upload with Frontpage. To check if you have Frontpage Extensions enabled enter the Control Panel to check if there is a "Quick Access" button with Frontpage on it. If after clicking on this button there is an ON next to your domain name then Frontpage Extensions are working for your domain. For some users you may need to reset the Frontpage userID and password. To do so click on the EDIT button adjacent the ON or OFF button. It will prompt you for a userID and password. Enter in a userID and password, note that by doing so you are overwriting the old userID and password in favor of this new one. Once the submission is complete you can upload directly into http://yourdomain.com/
  • What is the path for PERL? For Unix Servers it is the following: /usr/bin/perl
  • What is the sendmail path? Sendmail is no longer used, but a better and more secure alternative SQ-WebMail /usr/sbin/sendmail
  • Where is the webmail loacted? (Generic) Webmail can be located at mail.yourdomain.com using your username of user%yourdomain.com and the corresponding password.
  • Where is the MySQL database located? The databases are located on the sql.iway.com.np server, on the myphp.iway.com.np is where the program which allows for access to those databases is located.
  • What is my Temporary URL? It is found in your Web Options page at the bottom in the text field. NOTE: Do not edit this field it is for your web hosting service settings and only a iWay Technician should edit settings in the text field at the bottom of the Web Options page.
  • How do I add a domain name to my account? Domains are registered according to the standard procedure. Firstly, you need to purchase a domain name from a domain registration company. Secondly, you register this domain name with your web-hosting provider, from which you get your new IP address. Thirdly, you communicate this IP address to your domain registration company, where it is set as the IP address for your domain name. Then your site becomes available to all Internet community. This is true both of standard and non-standard domains. In case of standard domain names, however, the registration procedure is automated. To add a new domain name to your account, select Register Domain in the user menu:
    You will be taken to the Domain Name Registration page. It has several domain name registration forms for different types of domains.
    To create a new standard domain, enter your desired domain name into the field in the first form, omitting the www part:
    On its right, select domain category: .com, org, or .net, then provide your contact and billing information. Based on these data, a domain registration request will be generated and submitted to OpenSRS, a domain registration company. For more information, refer to http://www.opensrs.org/faq.shtml .
    To transfer an existing domain or register a non-standard domain with your account, use the second form:
    If you are creating a regional domain or if you would like to go for a different domain registration company, no automation is provided. This is why you first need to make sure you have a valid domain name. Enter it into the lower box, omitting the www part. After the registration, you will be given the information to communicate to your domain name registration company.
  • How can I have additional domain names point to my current domain? A stack domain is a server alias in terms of apache which may have its own DNS zone, custom DNS records and mail service. In other words, a stack domain is a domain alias that points to a 'primary' domain. For example, if your domain name is company.com, you can register another domain name, e.g. company.net and have it point to the location of company.com. This means, every Internet user who goes to company.net will land in company.com. A user plan can be configured(On Request) to allow or disallow stack domains. Also, there can be a limit to the number of stack domains you can create.
    To create a new domain alias, click the Add icon. The following window will appear:
    Enter the name for a new domain alias (this must be a fully qualified domain name, e.g. company.com).
  • How do I add an e-mail address? To add a new e-mail address, click Add New Mail Resource at the bottom of the list. A new form appears:
    Four types of resources are available in the drop-down box:
    mailboxes;
    mail forwarding rules;
    mail aliases;
    mailing lists.
    If you select Mailbox, the following form will appear:E-mail address: enter the name of the mailbox, you would like to create.
    Password: set a password for this mailbox, as you want it to be.
    Comment: enter a comment that will help you identify this address among other mail resources.
    Note: Postmaster mail box is a vpopmail service mailbox and it is not related to Control Panel.
    You don't pay for it. It doesn't mean you can't use it. However you can neither delete this mailbox nor change its quota! The postmaster mailbox quota is unchangeable. To forward postmaster email to one or more other addresses, create a forwarding object with exactly the same name as the postmaster mailbox.
  • How can I get my e-mail sent to my 3rd party e-mail account? If you select Mail Forward from the drop-down box above, a form will appear:
    Local e-mail address: enter the address that your mail will be forwarded from.
    Remote e-mail address: enter the address your mail will be forwarded to. This can also be your local address, in which case you must write it in full.
    Comment: add a comment that will help you identify this forwarding rule among other mail resources.
    To add more destination addresses for this forward, click the Edit icon in the Remote field in the Mail Forward Properties section.
  • How do I make a mailing list? You can create and manage multiple mailing lists from one account.
    *The Mailing Lists feature is implemented through EZMLM/IDX MAILING LIST MANAGER (http://www.ezmlm.org), which provides basic message distribution, subscriber address handling, message archiving, multi-message threaded archive retrieval, digests, remote administration, message and subscription moderation, subscriber-only restrictions, message trailer, subject prefix, subscriber name storage and more. To create a mailing list, choose Mailing List from the drop-down box above, and the following form will appear:
    E-mail address: the devoted e-mail address, that mail will be forwarded to subscribers from. Important: you can only enter a new e-mail address. If you need to use an existing address, first delete the resource that uses it.
    Comment: add a comment that will help you identify this address among other mail resources.
    After you have created a mailing list, you need to configure it according to your needs.
  • Do I have SSH or Telnet access? No, None of our shared hosting accounts offer telnet or SSH access for security reasons.
  • How long does it take for my domain to become active? Any DNS change can take up to 48 hours for the settings to propagate throughout the servers of the world.
  • How can I FTP files to my website? First you will need an FTP program many free versions are located at Download.com Once you have installed the program you will need to enter in your domain settings for your FTP access which are: (Generic)FTP host: web.iway.com.np
    FTP login: (typically the first 8 characters of your username, if your username is 8 characters or less use your username)
    FTP password: (corresponding password to the FTP login)Once those are entered. Click the connect button and you will be automatically connected to and logged into your FTP account. Once you have entered your account you need to upload those pages for which you wish to place on the internet into the folder named for the domain name. ex. Test123.com client would need to connect into test123.com and upload into the test123.com directory.
  • I'm on a Mac can I use a Mac FTP program? Yes, we support Mac FTP programs. All information on how to set up your FTP program to upload files to our servers is available in the control panel once you have an account with us.
  • I uploaded my new webpage, but I still see the old one, what is wrong? More likely then not you have not overwritten the index.html file which is automatically placed in the domain folder to protect any work you are doing on your website from being publicly viewed. Simply enter into your account and rename the page you wish to be shown first as index.html. If there are 2 index files located in your directory delete the default iWay page.
  • I am getting notices about nearing my traffic limit. What is this? You are most likely nearing your traffic limit. All accounts have traffic limits on them of 1, 2, 3 and more Gigabytes per month. Going over this traffic limit is nothing to worry about. If you go over your limit you will be automatically charged $5 per GB per month gone over and a portion there of.
  • I am seeing charges in my Online Billing. Where are they coming from? Most charges in your Online Billing Invoice are from you adding features to your account. If there is no yellow box at the bottom indicating a credit card charged then there is nothing to worry about. Initial Balance Adjustments are internal billing processes and are not charged to you nor are you responsible for them.
  • Are 3rd level domains available (anyname.mydomain.com)? Yes , check your control panel for more information on how to add Sub-Domains.
  • Do you support Active Server Pages? Yes , we support Active Server Pages . Check our Windows hosting plans for more info.
